The whirling dervish has been my favourite subject to paint for over a decade. For me this is the last stage of freedom, when you become one with yourself. When the dervish whirls, the soul, the world and the body everything is aligned and becomes a light. The gold colour in my paintings holds a lot of importance, it represents the light shining within us when we are true to our self.
